Tales of Tikvah

Court Jester of the Commonwealth of Chaos

Tikvah (not to be confused w/the fabulous "Tikva")
I've lived in SE Florida since spring 2007, after nineteen years in CT (talk about culture shock!). I'm old enough to know better, but young enough to still cause a fair amount of trouble. If you want to know anything else, ask.

FYI: The good stuff in my journal is usually friends-locked.

WARNING: Content in this journal is sometimes crass, crude, graphic, profane, pornographic, or otherwise offensive. Content may not be suitable for persons under 18. I do have filters and use them, but that is no guarantee you may not be offended or see something that your parents/state/nation may not want you to see. This warning is in compliance with LJ's request on the matter.

Some basic guidelines:
  • Spell-check is your friend. Proper grammar and spelling make me happy. If you're learning-disabled in any way, though, let me know, and I won't give you crap if you screw up. Otherwise, there's a good chance I'll tease you if I notice any gaffes in your comments. If I make the gaffes, you can feel free to tease me back. ;-)
  • If you aren't sure about an abbreviation or a term, please feel free to ask. Don't feel stupid. I'm part of a bunch of alternative communities, and I forget that there are people out there who are just discovering things that have been part of my life for a long time.
  • Flaming is only allowed if you're being fabulously queer and campy. Otherwise, please try to be reasonably polite to one another in my journal, OK? If not, I will warn you, and if you persist, I will ban you.
  • Please, no spoilers for TV shows, movies, etc, unless you use a cut tag and you put a warning in the cut tag.
  • Please don't assume I share your politics. My politics are more than a little weird, and I'm all over the map, depending on the issue. I am anti-G.W.Bush, as is most of my friendslist, but that doesn't mean I follow any party line to the letter. I love a good political debate (global politics as well as American), as long as it is done respectfully. Differing opinions are welcome here. If you do present an opinion that differs from mine, I might ask you for more information to support that opinion. That request will not be intended to imply a lack of validity to your opinion, so don't take offense. I just want to understand where the opinion comes from. If you can't support the opinion, don't take offense if my opinion remains unchanged.
  • I'm Israeli as well as American. If you have strong anti-Israel opinions, you might not want to get into a discussion of Middle-Eastern politics with me. While I often disagree with the decisions that any given Israeli administration might make, I believe that Israel does have a right to exist, and to be secure, and I will readily admit that I am biased on this topic.
  • I'm often prickly and irritable (I did say I was Israeli, right?), and I'm more tactless than I like. I'm also bossy, loud, and very opinionated. Sometimes I offend people inadvertently because I lack certain judgment skills. If I offend you, please tell me, because otherwise I probably won't realize it. That doesn't mean I'll back off or change my mind, but that doesn't mean I won't, either.
  • My friends' list is pretty sizable, and difficult to keep up with. Feel free to add me to your list if you like, and to read and comment on my public posts. Please don't be offended if I don't add you back. I need to have a life away from LJ!
  • If you can think of any other disclaimers I should put here, tell me.
